A Fun Day for a Good Cause

Aggregate Industries Employees Help Raise Funds for Charity 

Las Vegas, Nevada, October 24, 2009 – Aggregate Industries’ Bardon Materials employees participated in the Southern Highlands Annual Fall Festival 5k Run event at Southern Highlands Parkway. The event was organized by Southern Highlands Charitable Foundation (SHCF), a non-profit organization that raises money for local charities serving children, teens and women in Las Vegas. As a gold level sponsor, Bardon Materials made a significant contribution. The event raised over $150,000 for the Boys and Girls Club of Southern Nevada and other local charities.

Registration began at 7 a.m., with the race ending around 10 a.m. Afterward, Fall Festival participants and supporters enjoyed food, games, a pumpkin patch, a raffle, and other fun activities.

Twenty Bardon Materials employees participated in the 5k Run and 1 Mile Fun Walk while employees Mark Snyder, Laura Nielsen, Doug Barrowman, and Mark Miller greeted visitors and handed out candy to the trick-or-treaters at our beach-themed booth. Next to the booth, the employees prepared a sand box with buried gold nuggets and coins and earthmoving RC toys for children who came to the festival. While many children enjoyed playing in the sand box, adults complemented the staff on their outstanding efforts to create a fun-filled atmosphere. The sand box and sand were donated to a Southern Highlands day care facility at the end of the event. Throughout the day, AI employees held a “guess the weight of the rocks” contest, with winners receiving their choice of the RC Toys.

Participating in the Southern Highlands Annual Fall Festival and 5k Run is a key CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) opportunity for our business. Southern Highlands Development Company and the many Home Owners Associations within their community are major stakeholders of Sloan Quarry due to their proximity to the quarry. Our event participation and support underscores Aggregate Industries’ ongoing commitment to building a positive relationship among the Company, the management group, and the community.
