In addition, Aggregate Industries announced their commitment to achieving such certification for the dozens of Ready Mixed Plants it owns around the country. The Green-Star Program is run by the NRMCA to recognize the utilization of an Environmental Management System as a tool for environmental benchmarking and continual improvement. The certification is also a way to recognize those companies that adhere to the essential principles of the environmental and sustainability movements.
Aggregate Industries utilizes a comprehensive Environmental Management System (EMS). As a result of the EMS implementation, all operational sites have earned ISO 14001 Certification following an independent review by Lloyds Register. In conjunction with the Green-Star program goals and objectives, the EMS used by Aggregate Industries includes implementation of the corporate environmental policy, a dedication to continuous improvement through the establishment of corporate goals and objectives and regular self-evaluations (i.e., audits and site inspections). Will Glusac, President and CEO of Aggregate Industries stated, “The integration of a strong environmental management system is fundamental to our businesses success. Striving for environmental excellence helps us improve performance across the business and ensures that our company is seen as a leader and is respected by stakeholders and regulators across the country. We are proud of our commitment and will continue to work on improving on our current environmental performance.” Joel Nickel, US Environmental and Land Service Manager of Aggregate Industries stated, “The Green-Star certification is another example of how our Company leads the way on environmental issues and demonstrates that we are at the forefront of our industry in terms of environmental performance.”
